Guest Author Lizzy Stevens

Today I'm thrilled to welcome fellow Solstice Publishing author, Lizzy Stevens, here to talk about her YA Snow Hollow Trilogy.

1. What inspired you to begin writing?

I would say that I always wanted to write. My husband and I decided when we wanted kids that I would stay home with them. We didn't want somebody else raising them. So as you stay at home with children watching cartoons all day it was a nice escape to sit down and write :) My husband is very supportive of my writing and that is the key to success. You need family that will encourage you to do what you love. My kids are very proud of me as well. I have a 10 year old and a 7 year old. Both boys. I have to tell you the greatest story. My 10 year old was at school one day and his teacher gave them an assignment. The question was "Who is your favorite author." he said "That's easy. My mom is my favorite author." I thought I would cry.

2. What was the inspiration behind the characters in your Snow Hollow trilogy?

I wanted a story with a strong woman that could save herself. Something a little different than the usual man and woman fall in love and man saves woman. We all love a strong man LOL but it's nice to see the woman save herself every now and then. The romance is still there. Jenna falls in love with Jacob who is there to protect her and help mentor her, but she can fight battles on her own and kill demons by herself.

3. Which character did you have the most fun writing in these stories?

My favorite Character is Jenna. She's the oldest of the three girls and the strongest. Jenna is a strong woman who has to overcome many things in her life. She is thrown into a whole new life after her grandmother dies. She finds out that she is not only a witch but The Witch and she has to battle demons for a living to keep her family and the town safe.

4. What originally drew you to the paranormal/ dark fantasy genre?

I have always been interested in vampires, witches, werwolves so that is very enjoyable to write.

5. Do you have any favorite paranormal-themed films or TV shows?

Of course. Mine are more old school. I can't seem to find time to watch tv now days. I loved Charmed and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

6. What literary projects can we expect from you in the future?

I recently finished book 4 of the snow hollow series. I think I will stop with that series for a while now and maybe write a werewolf story next. You just never know with me LOL.
