Guest Author: P.G. Forte

I am pleased to welcome Guest Author P.G. Forte to The Angel's Gate. Today she will be discussing her latest book, In The Dark.

What inspired you to begin writing?

I remember being a very little girl—too young to read or write—listening to a song my mother had playing on the radio and making up a story to go along with it. Being half-Irish, I suspect story-telling is in my genes.

2. What was the inspiration behind the characters in your most recent release, In The Dark?

My latest print release came out in digital format last December and in print this October. I was inspired to write (In The Dark) because I wanted to write about vampires who were grounded in reality. In other words, I only gave them characteristics that I thought could logically explain from a natural selection standpoint. Of course, my theory presupposes the existence of alien life forms, but I figure as a scientific concept, that’s not really much of a stretch.
I also wanted to explore the psychological differences between centuries old vampires and those who turned more recently; as well as those who chose to become vampires as opposed to those who had the change forced on them.

3. Which character did you have the most fun writing in this story?

Oh! Don’t make me choose! I suppose, I must confess that the character who surprised me by stealing his way into my heart was Damian. But really, I love them all. And Suzanne/Desert Rose, my little hippie chick heroine, was probably the most fun.

4. What originally drew you to the paranormal/ dark fantasy genre?

I grew up on Edgar Allen Poe and Dark Shadows. I can’t really remember a time I wasn’t interested in paranormal/dark fantasy.

5. Do you have any favorite paranormal-themed films or TV shows?

I’ve had many, many favorites over the years. Really, there’s very little on currently—other than re-runs in syndication, of course. I like Supernatural—although their take on witches and witch craft nearly led to a permanent ban of the show. And, I confess that, while I love Castiel, there’s a lot about their angel mythos I dislike intensely. Having written several angel books now, I’ve become rather proprietary and/or protective of them. LOL As if they need it!

6. What literary projects can we expect from you in the future?

I’m awaiting word from my editor on the fate of the first of several sequels to In the Dark. I’m also working on another angel book, tentatively titled Nearer Than Heaven.

  1. Ah, Dark Shadows. That guy always reminded me a little of Abe Lincoln. Thank god neither Damian nor Conrad has that kind of vibe!
